Johnny Marr dropped by the day after receiving his God Like Genius Award from the NME to play on a few guitars and amps from Rory's collection. It was fantastic to hear Johnny play some classic Rory riffs on Rory's legendary 1961 Fender Stratocaster and Fender Bassman ahead of what would have been Rory's birthday on March 2nd. Check out Johnny's fantastic new album The Messenger and catch him on tour in March! http://rorygallagher.com/ https://twitter.com/RoryGallagher_ http://www.facebook.com/RoryGallagher
Sustained creativity has always been a true differentiator. The people who regularly break through the status quo—and embolden others to do it, too—become our models for true ingenuity. Mentorship, collaboration, continuous learning, a growth mindset and, most of all, the human spirit are the engines that drive transformation in society, in business, and in the arts. “Creativity in the Digital Age,” a short film by Microsoft featuring music legend Johnny Marr, shines a spotlight on the vision, techniques, and values that fuel continual innovation and inventiveness.
The legendary Johnny Marr has his fingerprints on several decades of pop hits, beginning with his groundbreaking stint in the Smiths throughout the 1980s. Since then, Marr's unmistakable jangly and ringing sound has appeared in his work with The The, Electronic, the Pretenders and Johnny Marr and the Healers. More recently, Marr lent his hand to Modest Mouse and the Cribs, and that's not to mention his solo work that yielded a debut album in 2013 called The Messenger.
Recently, we caught up with the Jaguar-wielding axeman to talk about his storied career, his influences and his attachment to the Fender brand.
Marr also plugged in his signature Fender Jaguar to perform a few songs from the Hospital Club in London, tabbing solo tracks such as "Sun & Moon," "The Messenger," "Lockdown" and "I Want the Heartbeat."
