Sicario: Day of the Soldado (released outside North America as Sicario 2: Soldado) is an upcoming American action crime thriller film directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan. The sequel to the 2015 film Sicario, the film stars Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, who reprise their roles from the first movie along with Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Catherine Keener. The plot follows the drug war at the U.S.-Mexico border as it has escalated to the point where the cartels have begun transporting terrorists, forcing the CIA to team up with ex-hitman Alejandro Gillick. The film is set to be released in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing under its Columbia Pictures label while internationally released by Lionsgate on June 29, 2018. Synopsis : After discovering that Mexican drug cartels are smuggling Sicario terrorists across the U.S. border, the CIA sends Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and former undercover operative Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro) to eliminate the problem. They kidnap Isabela Reyes (Isabela Moner), the daughter of a drug lord, in a false flag operation designed to incite war between rival cartels.
