Play-In stage

Teams will begin the tournament split into three pools of four teams each, according to the draw done on September 11th. Same region teams cannot be placed together in the group.

  • Pool A – FNC, BYG, RNG, DRX.
  • Pool B – SGB, FNC, EG, DFM.
  • Pool C – CHF, ISG, LOUD, IW.

Twelve teams participating in the Play-in stage will be divided into two groups of six. Everyone in the group will get to play once against every team in the opposing group. Each group’s best team will advance directly to the Group stage. Winners of the best-of-five series between the third and fourth-place teams will face the second seed from the opposite group for the final two Group stage spots.

Once all Play-In games have been completed, the four winning teams will be randomly assigned to one of the four groups that have already been established for the Group stage.

Group stage

In addition to the twelve automatic qualifiers, the Group Stage will include the top four teams from the Play-in Stage. These sixteen teams will compete in four groups of four, playing against each other twice. As with the Play-In groups, no two teams from the same region can be placed in the same pool. The top two teams of the four groups will progress to the Knockout stage.

The Group stage will consist of three pools with four teams each, just like the Play-In stage:

  • Pool A – RGE, C9, JDG, GEN.
  • Pool B – T1, TOP, CFO, T1, G2.
  • Pool C – SGB, EDG, 100T, DK.

Knockout stage

The Knockout stage will showcase eight remaining teams as they make their way through Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals to decide who will be the 2022 World Champions. After the conclusion of the Group Stage, the matchups are determined by a random draw held live on stage. The single-elimination bracket will be in effect, meaning teams will have to play best-of-five games.
